Welcome! I am glad you are here. I hope you find my site helpful!

My name is Kelly Larson and I am the School Social Worker for Breckenridge Public School. I grew up in Perham, MN.  I went to the University of MN - Crookston for my first 2 years of college and received my bachelors in Social Work from Moorhead State University. I am a licensed Social Worker by the State of MN. I have been working for the district for 17 years. Prior to working in the school I worked for Wilkin County Family Services as a Child Protection Specialist and at Otter Tail County as a Children's Mental Health Case Manager. I also worked for 6 years as the Youth Coordinator for Region 4 Council on Domestic Violence. I feel these jobs have provided me with a great deal of insight for my position at the school.

| My husband Troy and I have a son and a daughter.  We live outside of Rothsay where my husband farms on the family farm. I am passionate about the work I do with kids and feel lucky to have the opportunity to work for Breckenridge Public School's. | Contact: Kelly Larson |

What is a School Social Worker

School Social Workers are the link between home, school, and community. As members of the educational team, School Social Workers promote and support students' academic and social success by providing specialized services.

As the Breckenridge School Social Worker my job has changed a bit over the past few years. I work primarily with grades 3 through 8 and we have an elementary School Counselor named Rikki Fischer that works primarily with grades K-3.  I work with students through classroom lessons, individual or small group work. Some of these areas of support may be: Improving social skills, anger management, dealing with divorce, dealing with death or other transitions, managing friendships as well as mistreatment, academic difficulties or anxiety.

If you would like to find out more about the services or refer a child or if you would like outside resources please feel free to give me a call or email me atlarsonk@breckenridge.k12.mn.usor my direct line is 218-641-4024.
